Simple steps for healthy living

With the year well underway, and presenting many challenges to communities, it is important to take time out to check in with yourself and your lifestyle. The busyness of modern life presents one of the greatest challenges to individual health and wellbeing. Life can feel like a juggling act at times as you try to keep your eyes on the many balls or tasks requiring your attention on any one day.

Taking simple steps to live a healthy lifestyle can help you keep on top of stress and maintain good energy levels to allow you to function well.

  • Eat healthy – Food is your body’s fuel and provides necessary nutrients for health and wellbeing (e.g. vitamins, minerals, and fibre). Enjoy protein, healthy fats, wholefoods, colourful fruits and vegetables every day.
  • Move daily – Being active most days of the week can improve your energy and ability to handle stressful situations, as well as overall health.
  • Take time out – Rest and relax for at least half an hour a day.
  • Sleep soundly – Aim for 7-8 hours’ sleep at night.
